Hotel Accommodations
The first and last nights in Beijing, Hong Kong, Lhasa (three-four nights in Lhasa on Tibet routes) and Moscow (on Silk Road trips) of the tour are spent in well-appointed four and five star hotels. Additional nights before and after the tour can be arranged on request.
Off-Train Tours
Rail journeys feature an extensive line-up of educational city tours of the various stops on our routes. Private coaches and local guides whisk you away from your "hotel on wheels" for fascinating half- or full-day forays to explore the principal towns and cities, sometimes including an in-city dining opportunity.
Day Train to Lhasa
For the approximately fourteen-hour daytime trip between Golmud and Lhasa we board the high-altitude train created specifically for regularly scheduled trips on the unique rail line. The specialized train cars come equipped with on-demand oxygen as well as a universally oxygen-enriched atmosphere to ease the transition between the widely divergent altitudes of Lhasa and Golmud.
Please note that a variety of cabins styles are in use aboard the various trains. Decor and layout of dining, bar and sleeping cars on your journey may differ from the sample images depicted in our brochures/websites.
