The Brilliant Czar's Ball in St. Petersburg, Russia
Set in luxurious Catherine's Palace, the sumptuous Czar's Ball recreates the imperial soirees of the 19th century, when no expense was spared to dazzle and entertain the chosen few.
Each honored guest, dressed in gown or tux, joins the créme de la créme at the modern-day Czar's Ball. Entering the extravagantly beautiful Throne Room in Catherine's Palace is like entering the pages of a Tolstoy novel.
Tiered crystal chandeliers illuminate the polished parquet floors as an orchestra begins a waltz. Ice sculptures reflect vases crowded with fragrant hothouse flowers. From the moment uniformed hussars light the way to the palace entrance, guests experience the height of czarist grandeur.
The celebratory feast is a splendid re-enactment of gatherings at the height of czarist opulence, replete with ice sculptures, fine French and Russian cuisine and flutes of champagne. This magnificent New Year's celebration features opera and ballet soloists entertaining guests throughout the evening.
The Czar's Ball is an optional event featured on MIR's Winter Wonder Land: New Year's in Russia small group tour. It can also be added to a Private Family Tour to Russia. For ticket prices and details, contact Charity Shaller at 800-424-7289 or email charity@mircorp.com.
