Zigzag your way across Central Europe on this unforgettable journey through four countries - Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Germany. Board in regal Budapest, with its well-worn gentility. Explore Slovakia's second city, Košice; Golden Prague, the Hundred-Spired City; and Czech Republic's famous spa-town Carlsbad, with its curative waters. Finish in monumental Berlin, the re-imagined capital of Germany.

Day 1: Budapest, Košice

Enjoy a champagne reception in the former Royal Waiting Room at Budapest's Nyugati Station. Board the Danube Express waiting on the adjoining platform. The train heads north across the Great Hungarian Plain near the Matra Mountains. Cross the Slovak border and disembark for a walk through Košice, Slovakia's second largest city, founded in the 13th century. Overnight the train crosses into the Czech Republic and continues to the magnificent city of Prague.

Day 2: Prague, Carlsbad

Disembark in Prague for a visit to St. Vitus Cathedral and the former Royal Palace. Lunch aboard the train as it glides toward the Bohemian city of Carlsbad. Carlsbad, also known by its Czech name, Karlovy Vary, is an elegant spa town whose glory days were the last third of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Tonight the Danube Express continues to Germany.

Day 3: Dresden, Berlin

This morning admire the beautiful Elbe Gorge as the train nears Dresden. Explore the restored city, including the Frauenkirche, the Church of Our Lady, with a golden dome donated by the city of Conventry, Dresden's twin city in England, also destroyed by carpet-bombing during WWII. Visit the Zwinger Palace, originally built for the Saxon kings to rival the French Court's Versailles Palace. Lunch is served aboard the train as it continues to Berlin. Roll in to Berlin's Ost Station in the late afternoon and disembark the Danube Express.
