Zigzag your way across Central Europe on this unforgettable journey through four countries – Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. Explore regal Budapest, with its well-worn gentility; Golden Prague, the Hundred-Spired City; medieval Krakow, its royal castle looking down from Wawel Hill; and monumental Berlin, the re-imagined capital of Germany.

Days 1-2: Budapest

Explore regal Budapest, the grand Hapsburg capital on the Danube.  On the Pest side of the river, visit Heroes Square and the City Park with its Vajdahunyad Castle.  Admire the best views of the monumental Parliament building from across the river on Gellert Hill, and discover Castle Hill with St. Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion.

Day 3: Aboard Train

Transfer to Nyugati Station for a champagne reception in the former Royal Waiting Room. The Danube Express will be waiting on the adjoining platform. The train heads north alongside the Danube, then crosses the Slovak border into the Tatra Mountains for some spectacular scenery. Overnight the train crosses into the Czech Republic and continues to the magnificent city of Prague.

Day 4: Prague

Disembark in Prague for a visit to St. Vitus Cathedral and the former Royal Palace. Cross the historic Charles Bridge and continue to the Old Town Square with its famous astronomical clock.  Enjoy some free time in the Old Town before returning to the train.

Day 5: Krakow

Tour Krakow’s beautifully preserved Old Town, including Wawel Castle, seat of Polish kings for hundreds of year, the medieval Main Market Square, the Cloth Hall and St Mary’s Church.  Explore the sculpted underground chambers of the Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Days 6-8: Berlin

Roll into Berlin where we disembark and transfer to a four star hotel for the final two tour nights.  Visit the monumental Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz in the city center, memorable Checkpoint Charlie and the redesigned Reichstag.  The next day, drive past the Wannsee Lakes to admire the palace and gardens at Sanssouci.  Enjoy free time in the afternoon for browsing the shops of Friedrichstrasse or perhaps visiting one of the area’s many museums.

This trip also travels along the same route in reverse from Berlin to Budapest.
