Russia's Golden Ring by Private Train
The Golden Ring is a modern name given to the ancient towns that form an elliptical circle above Moscow. Heavy with history, they are dotted with remnants of defensive kremlins, with active monasteries and with some of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Russia.
In the autumn departure, we board the exclusive private train in magnificent Moscow and wend our way leisurely around the Ring, stopping to admire the
UNESCO-listed "White Monuments" of Vladimir and Suzdal. Two Volga river towns, Kostroma, rebuilt by Catherine the Great and Yaroslavl, founded in 1010 are on our route, as are Pskov and Novgorod, with the oldest palace, the oldest bell tower and the oldest clock tower in Russia.
The more comprehensive holiday departure takes us to these destinations as well, adding New Year's in lustrous St. Petersburg and a visit to Russia's Santa Claus in his snow-covered hometown, Velikiy Ustyug.
