Continuing to head south across the country's center, arrive in Krakow, Poland's royal capital from the 11th to the 17th century. It was included on UNESCO's first World Heritage list in 1978 thanks to its colorful Old Town. Back on board the train, enjoy the scenery of the Tatra Mountains as the train snakes up to the ski resort of Zakopane, the highest town in Poland.
Day 4: Košice, Budapest
Travel through Slovakia's second largest city, Košice, which still shows signs of its pre-WWI Hungarian influence. Crossing the Hungarian border, enjoy lunch on the train before arrival at Nyugati Station in regal Budapest, the grand Hapsburg capital on the Danube.
