New York to Paris by automobile! The grueling 1908 New York to Paris Race proved to an unbelieving public that cars were indeed the wave of the future. In 2011, an unknown number of adventuresome drivers will recreate the incredible journey with a round-the-world road rally. Join them for the international leg from Beijing to Paris as a driver and navigator team (bring your own vehicle), or as a passenger in a support vehicle.

Days 1-20: China

On the international leg of this epic auto adventure, begin in Beijing with the classic sites, then start your motor and head off across China. Your longest driving day will be only 350 miles, with extra time built in to appreciate the sights. Take a day off in Xi'an, home of the Terra Cotta Warriors; in Lanzhou and Dunhuang, along the ancient Silk Road; and in Urumqi, where nomads of Mongolian, Kazakh and Uighur extraction have roamed for thousands of years.

Days 21-27: Kazakhstan

Drive across the vast open spaces of land-locked Kazakhstan, the world's ninth largest country. Spend a day in Almaty, the country's largest and most cosmopolitan city, drive northwest to Lake Balkhash, one of the largest lakes in Asia, and continue on to the capital-by-decree, Astana, surrounded by the windy steppe of north central Kazakhstan.

Days 28-38: Russia

Cross into Russia at the western end of Siberia, where the roads become more frequented than along the country's midsection. Your ten days in Russia take you from Ekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains, where the last czar met his end; through Izhevsk, capital of the Republic of Udmurtia to Kazan, a beautiful Tatar city sitting on the Volga River through Nizhny Novgorod, Maxim Gorky's hometown and into Moscow, where you stop to admire Red Square and the mighty Kremlin, capital of all Russia.

Days 39-49: Europe

Make your way across Europe on your own Grand Tour through Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland and finally France. Most of these driving days are short, giving you the opportunity to admire the landscapes beyond the motorways, as well as the art, architecture and ambience of Old Europe. Cross the finish line in romantic Paris, greet the Eiffel Tower and celebrate your amazing achievement.
