Zakopane

The beautiful resort and ski town of Zakopane is the highest town in Poland. Set high in the Alp-like Tatra Mountains of the Carpathian chain, Zakopane is called the “Winter Capital of Poland,” because of its celebrated ski hills and spas. The local mountain people, called gorale, have their own folk culture and were the first to produce a uniquely Polish product for the EU, oscypek, a special sheep cheese.
