MIR’s 30 Years: Overland Expeditions – Motorcycling with GlobeRiders (VIDEO)

When the GlobeRiders take to their motorcycles, it’s not for a short ride around the block on a Sunday afternoon. Our MIR custom travel team loves working with GlobeRiders founder, Helge Pedersen, and his intrepid group of die-hard riders who are intent on traveling and exploring the byways and backroads of the world on two wheels. Helge himself has traveled to more than 100 countries and admits he’s lost count of the miles he’s ridden.

We at MIR have facilitated the GlobeRiders on several of their epic journeys, which they dub “World Adventure Touring.” These scenic journeys by motorcycle are often in logistically and linguistically challenging countries; our MIR team is happy to help smooth the way with our experience and on-the-ground support.

Motorcycling the Silk RoadThe GlobeRiders’ most recent journey faciliated by MIR was a nearly two-month-long trip in May and June 2015 called the “Silk Road Adventure.” They followed the route of camels and caravans, traveling the Silk Road through Turkey, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, Iran, and Chinacountries that are MIR’s specialty.

As we did with half-a dozen earlier GlobeRiders motorcycle journeys,  our MIR team of logistical experts worked on nailing down itineraries, lodging, food, and tech support for almost two dozen riders. Our behind-the-scenes work freed them up to focus on enjoying their motorcycle journey, knowing the tiniest detail was handled by MIR.

Epic Journeys on Two WheelsOn earlier road trips, MIR has helped the GlobeRiders roar through different regions of Russia, navigate the potholes of Siberia, explore the deserts and oasis towns of Central Asia, bike along the Volga River, and ride through Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Each overland expedition was unique, with its own challenges.

And as always, we at MIR are happy to help travelers create memorable overland expeditions, whether on foot, by car, by train or – of course – by motorcycle.
