In booking with MIR, you understand and agree that MIR purchases or reserves travel-related services on your behalf from independent service providers that will provide components of the tour, including but not limited to transportation, lodging, restaurants, and other services. Because MIR does not own or control any of these independent service providers and suppliers, it is not responsible for any delay, inconvenience, accident, expense, injury, loss, death or damage caused by any negligent or willful act or failure to act or default of any such service provider or supplier.

Travelers are responsible for selecting an appropriate tour that matches their interests and physical abilities and for preparing for the tour by studying the Descriptive Daily Itinerary and additional trip information sent by MIR. By booking and participating in a tour, you represent that you do not have any physical or other conditions that would create a hazard for you or other participants or affect other people’s enjoyment of the tour. We also reserve the right at our sole discretion to accept, decline, or remove anyone from a tour (at or prior to departure or during the tour) for any reason, including but not limited to if we believe a person is incapable of meeting the tour’s physical or mental demands.

Itinerary & Price Changes

Published itineraries are subject to change without notice due to changing conditions in the field. As trips are priced more than a year in advance, we reserve the right to change the land cost in the event of significant increased costs over which we have no control, including but not limited to changes in internal airfares, fuel surcharges, and currency fluctuations.

Single Travelers

Dmanisi, Georgia Photo credit: Martin Klimenta

If you prefer single accommodations, the single supplement fee/single occupancy rate is payable. Single accommodations are not always available, as some nights may be spent in yurts/gers, tents, lodges, guesthouses, aboard regularly scheduled rail service, or in private homes and are subject to the availability of rooms and/or camping space. A partial single supplement is available on tours that employ non-hotel accommodation for some nights.

We are happy to attempt a same-gender roommate match for solo travelers who request it on small group tours. Should no one be available with whom you can share, you will be assessed the single supplement fee/single occupancy rate at the time of invoicing. In the event of a last-minute cancellation or roommate incompatibility resulting in assignment of a single room, the single supplement fee/single occupancy rate will be assessed.

Special Accommodation Note for Select Tours

As specified in the Detailed Daily Itinerary documentation, a selection of our trips make use of yurts, gers, overnight trains, or other non-hotel accommodations.

In these particular cases, travelers may be asked to share sleeping quarters with multiple other group members for those nights. Land Tour inclusions and details of accommodation for each scheduled Small Group Tour are outlined in the Descriptive Daily Itinerary.

Air Reservations

A Plane in the Gobi Desert in MongoliaMIR’s in-house, full-service air department will gladly assist with your air travel needs. Payment for air tickets that are not part of the land tour is due upon confirmation and may be made by credit card or check according to the acceptance policies of the carrier. Should you decide to take on the responsibility of making your own arrangements (including mileage-based reservations), please supply MIR with a copy of your air itinerary showing your full travel itinerary at the time of final payment for your land tour. Any contract or reservation for air travel is exclusively with the carrier, and not MIR – even if MIR assists with those arrangements.
