Balkan Odyssey Buzzes in the Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times & More

The Balkans are getting some much-deserved attention in the Sunday Travel section of several prestigious media outlets, including the Chicago Tribune, the Baltimore Sun, the L.A. Times, and the San Diego Union Tribune, all of which are spotlighting MIR’s Balkan Odyssey: Crossroads of Cultures small group tour. Phil Marty of the Chicago Tribune notes that while “the Balkans don’t spring to mind when looking for places to explore in Europe,” that certainly doesn’t mean they’re lacking in fabulous highlights:

Modern-day Belgrade, the Serbian capital, tempts with its artists’ quarter, Skadarlija. There are many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Balkans, including the Old Bridge in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, which dates from Ottoman times, and Dubrovnik’s famed Old Town on the Adriatic coast in southern Croatia. There’s also Kotor, Montenegro, guarded by walls as old as Roman times.
