Andy Christian Castillo, editorial assistant at GoNOMAD Travel, recently interviewed MIR Client Sales Specialist Devin Connolly in an article titled, “A Brief Guide Through Bulgaria and Romania,” explaining why these two unusual locales “continue to delight with gorgeous locations and adventure.” The article features our Bulgaria & Romania: Frescoes and Fortresses small group journey, one of MIR’s “most stable and popular tours,” and talks about one of the trip’s signature highlights, the UNESCO-listed painted monasteries in Bucovina, Romania.

“Each monastery is painted with a different predominant color: one is red, one is yellow, another is green and the last, called Voronet, is painted blue; with a tone so iconic and rich, made out of crushed lapis lazuli, that artists today called the blue pigment Voronet Blue.”
