Silk Road Sojourn
Each week, the Travel team at the Columbus Dispatch focuses on a new and interesting travel program to spotlight in the newspaper’s Sunday travel column. This week, they picked MIR’s epic 24-day Chinese Turkestan & Central Asia small group tour, which retraces the path of Silk Road merchants and explorers through modern-day Central Asia and China.
Stops include the oasis city of Yarkand and an overnight near Tash Rabat, a 15th-century stone caravanserai in Kyrgyzstan. Guests will also skirt the Taklamakan Desert on camels, learn to set up a yurt and visit blue-tiled mosques and madrasahs in Uzbekistan.
The tour was also featured in the Dispatch’s monthly business magazine, Columbus CEO.
