MIR announces new way to experience the Trans-Siberian Railway
A new experience aboard the Tsar’s Gold private train on the legendary Trans-Siberian route is now available through MIR Corporation, the experts in travel to St. Petersburg, the Silk Route, Siberia and beyond.
The Tsar’s Gold private train travels along the Trans-Siberian route from Beijing to Moscow, with stops including UlaanBaatar, Mongolia’s capital; UNESCO-listed Lake Baikal; Irkutsk, Siberia’s “capital;” Ekaterinburg, where Tsar Nicholas II and his family were killed in 1918; and Kazan, a multiethnic city that serves as the capital of Tartarstan. In-depth touring at all of the train stops and unique features like a picnic lunch in a Mongolian yurt (ger), a boat ride down the Volga, and a tour of Moscow’s subway stations are included. The train travels in both the eastbound and westbound directions along the same route.
Three styles of accommodation are available aboard the Tsar’s Gold: Bolshoi Class, with modern, en suite facilities; Nostalgic Comfort Class, patterned after the first class cabins of Communist Party leaders in the 1950s and featuring a shower stall for every two cabins; and Standard Plus Class with shared facilities. Train accommodations are augmented by hotel stays in Beijing, UlaanBaatar, Irkutsk and Moscow.
In 2009, the westbound route is available May 25-June 8, July 20-August 3, and September 14-28 and the eastbound route is available July 12-27. Twin shares start at $7,750 per person.
The addition of the Tsar’s Gold train tour to MIR’s Trans-Siberian lineup gives MIR the ability to plan Trans-Siberian trips for clients along several different routes, on a multitude of start dates. MIR has recently produced a brochure “Experience the Trans-Siberian Railway – Your Route – Your Way” which overviews all the Trans-Siberian options available: From private journeys aboard the local trains to group tours aboard luxury private trains – and options in between.
