Handcrafted, Private Tours to Ukraine

Overview

You want to do things your way. We get it. MIR has been planning custom, private tours from scratch for over three decades, and we understand just how important flexibility is in travel.

Traveling privately on a custom private tour affords a great deal of flexibility – flexibility to immerse yourself in your own exclusive experience, to craft an itinerary around your interests, to go at your own pace, and to travel when it’s right for you.

How does it work? We’ll connect you with one of our Private Tour Designers so that you can share your vision and expectations with us.

We’ll ask you questions to better learn about your interests: Want to visit the villages where your ancestors once called home? How about trying your hand at traditional egg-painting with the help of a master? Or visiting the home workshop of a renowned Ukrainian icon painter and seeing his work at a local church?

We’ll share our extensive experience in the region – and our suggestions. And then we’ll dig into it and custom-craft a private tour itinerary for your review. Give us a call at 800-424-7289 to get started, or click here to be on your way.

Signature Experiences

Below are just a few examples of the signature experiences that MIR can arrange for you in Ukraine. Let them be a source of inspiration, then get in touch with one of our Private Tour Designers to craft an itinerary that’s uniquely suited to your travel goals, budget, and style.

  • Experience Ukrainian dacha life by going out to the countryside, where city dwellers escape the daily grind and enjoy country life. Dachas vary from a summer cabin with no running water to a fine home suitable for living year-round.
  • Journey into the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to witness firsthand the aftermath of the tragic event that displaced thousands of people and left ghost towns in their wake.
  • Get behind the controls of a Soviet tank at a military base near Kyiv. Take a master class on driving the BDRM-1 and the BTR, amphibious vehicles used in the 1950s and 1960s. Visit the military museum and try on some of the uniforms there, followed by a photo session with military weapons.
  • Cook with Kostiantyn Koalyshyn, president of Lviv’s Culinary Arts Club. Try your hand at making varenyky, Ukrainian dumplings, then enjoy your creations at a meal together.

Suggested Private Tours

And if you don’t feel that a fully-customized trip is what you seek, we’ve got the perfect solution. Whether you’re looking for a compact trip that hits the highlights or something more in depth, MIR offers suggested private tours that can be adapted to your choice of dates. Our itinerary, your dates – it’s a great option whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or in a small group.

Traveler Reviews

  • "I wanted to visit where my mother’s family came from and where my father was born in Ukraine. The guide spent hours researching the areas and my family’s history; she and her assistant not only took me where I wanted to go, they set up meetings with local experts who provided immeasurable help in tracing and understanding my heritage. The hotels were outstanding and drivers were courteous and helpful."
