With nearly 40 years of experience, MIR brings deep regional knowledge to journeys across the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Each year brings new reasons to return to the regions we know best, and recently we’ve felt a familiar pull, echoed by MIR travelers, toward places we’ve long loved. For 2026, much of that energy centers on our curated cultural trips to Asia. Read on for what MIR travelers can look forward to in the year ahead.

Taiwan Joins the List of MIR’s Destinations

Insights & Perspectives from Asia’s Cultural Crossroads | MIR

In 2026, MIR introduces Taiwan, a destination that fits naturally within our Asia focus yet remains unfamiliar to many travelers. Taiwan offers a strong sense of place formed by indigenous cultures, dramatic landscapes, and a confident contemporary society. Mountain interiors, coastal scenery, night markets, and everyday traditions come together in ways that feel distinctly its own.

Our inaugural small group tour, Uncovering Taiwan: An Island Apart, travels in November 2026, led by Michel Behar, one of MIR’s most experienced tour managers. Only 2 spaces remain!

Taiwan is also one of Asia’s most easily reached hubs, with strong international air connections from North America. MIR travelers can rely on our in-house air desk to coordinate a personalized air routing to Taiwan, as well as to any of MIR’s 40 destinations. Learn More about Taiwan >>

What’s New & Upcoming in Uzbekistan

Cultural Trips to Asia 2026 | MIR Corporation

Uzbekistan, one of MIR’s longest-standing areas of expertise, continues to see developments that directly benefit travelers. Beginning in 2026, U.S. citizens will be eligible for visa-free travel. In Tashkent, new international hotels, including the Swissôtel and JW Marriott, have recently opened, with a Hilton Garden Inn expected in summer 2026.

Two new major cultural institutions, the Center for Islamic Studies and the Center for Contemporary Arts, are scheduled to open in 2026. Rail expansion remains a national priority, and aviation infrastructure continues to develop following the opening of a new business charter terminal in 2025 and the launch of a long-term international airport project. Following the success of the inaugural Bukhara Biennial in 2025, an announcement regarding the next edition, scheduled for 2027, is anticipated. Learn More about Uzbekistan >>

Central Asia 2026 Departures Are Filling Fast

Central Asia remains one of MIR’s most established regions, where we’ve been operating for nearly 40 years. We were the first American travel company to open a representative office here at the time of Uzbekistan’s independence, and demand for the region continues to reflect that long-standing presence. Our flagship small group tour, Journey Through Central Asia: The Five ’Stans, is selling quickly for 2026, with several departures already sold out. We’ve been running this program for over 25 years, and it remains our most popular small group tour.

Additional dates have been added, but availability is limited. Departures in April, late August/September, and October are now filling up quickly. Book before they are gone! See the Detailed Itinerary >>
